Handling a dog is managing dog’s move on the way we want in that moment.
Depend on the type of the show we will handle a dog on the requested way.
I will write about exterior show.
Fifteen or twenty years ago Rottweiler was presented or handled by the left side of the handler.
In that time I spoke to some judges and they told me “Rottweiler is strong dog and in show ring the dog must be handled by left leg, always on distance from other dogs and under control.
Twenty and twenty-five years ago dogs was different, especially males was dominant, and in the ring with teen to twenty males it was not easy.
So handling the dogs by left leg is easier to manage and his attention is easier to get or redirect from some other dogs that behave aggressive.
Especially in running , handler and dog run off and imagine that dog male in running start fallow a male front of him and the first one turn back on ‘’ I don’t think the handlers and dogs can stop and avoid troubles in this situation. “This happened very often”
If the dog run by us it must be with relaxed leash so the judge can see real anatomy picture. If the dog pull the real picture of anatomy is different.
Today we have terrible handling style.
Dogs run front of handler and that’s not just little forward it’s almost one meter.
I am for way of handling that let the dog maybe for the length of the head and neck forward but that’s all.
Let’s say that times changed and type of handling changed.
This is fine but even the dog run to much forward I see that some handlers have control on the dog and the dog not pull he just run up front.
No matter handling by the leg or up front “by this I mean that dog must pay attention all the time on handler at least if not watch in the handler must listen his voice and commands ‘’.
Today we have situation where dogs in the ring pull forward, they learned to run in circle but how heavy they pull and want make a circle fastest they can, they put head down, hind part of the body going up and plus on top of that they pull on left side all the time, very similar to the motorbike racing style.

Similar picture we get when the dogs like that come on international in door shows, where the show ring is small and there is no space for pulling and running out of control.
The picture of same dog on this type of the show look very similar just we must add that in most cases the dog is hanged because can’t run up front.
The dog must be by left leg, so the dog can’t breathe normally and still pull on same way in circle, very often here dogs barely touch the ground with front legs.
Picture of hanged dog in the ring is very often fallowed by sound of croaking.
So imagine “big name known handler’’ show your dog on this way in the ring?
Will you be satisfied as owner of the dog who pay for his dogs trainings?
Will you consider this kind of handler professional and serious?
I really don’t know what is worst here, having this kind of handler and dogs in the ring or judges who accept this and give a title on the end.
I am saying this because the judge can’t describe the dog like this and can’t compare dogs in movement at the ring between each other.
This kind of presentation deserves disqualification, not because the dog is bad, because it’s not possible made opinion list and describe the dog.

Dog show is not race, speed is not important.
Some think that speed is important but they don’t even look at the style how their dog run.
Trot, middle, speed, head under 45 degree or little less if the dog move faster.
Running must not be bouncing or light movement, the step must be strong, well and firmly on the ground, with a strong push off.
There is two ways of move running “faster” and walking “slower”.
Of Course if any dog run slower and can’t run faster but make problems to other, then should be properly warned and placed.  
And here we are back again on political show and showing.
 Unfortunately, some of judges must continue with approval and giving a title this kind of handling “hanged/croaking “ because somebody still must go on exhibitions that were destroyed by the politic of the same one.
